On Sunday, we were blessed to hear from Craig Gross of XXX Church, who preached about what it means to love your neighbor. "If you're not praying for your friends, there's no way you're praying for your enemies." Gross, who has been occupying the streets of the porn industry, challenged the assumption that your neighbor is someone who is like you or near you but instead the people God has called you to reach. We're gearing up for another explosive week at Hillsong, and here are ways you can get plugged in this week:

On Tuesday, we are going to have an Exchange Bible Study. If you are a new believer of Jesus or are interested in learning the building blocks of our faith, this is for you. We will be meeting at 155 E 22nd Street at 7:30 p.m. Also, Tuesday night Connect Groups will be meeting across the city. If you're interested in joining a group, e-mail nyc@hillsong.com for more information or stop by one of the information bars at the next service.

Wednesday: We have two Exchange services at Irving Plaza (17 Irving Pl) at 6:30 & 8:30 PM. This is a time to get reconnected with your church family, bring a friend and worship. We hope to see you there!

ThursdayWe're having our Creative Night at 7:30 pm at 155 E 22nd St.. This is an opportunity to learn more about the team and how you can use your gifts to help build the church. Whether it's taking photos, making things, singing, playing an instrument, making singers and musicians sound and look better through audio engineering, lighting, TV etc - filming, producing and editing videos... the list goes on - Email NYCcreative@hillsong.com for more information.

The Exchange was out of this world last night with Pastor Judah Smith bringing an amazing word called "The Father's House (There's Plenty of Room)." He talked about John 14:1-7 and John 21:1-14 and fitting in in the Father's house where there is plenty of room.

Pastor Judah said that one of the greatest necessities in life is to fit in and we're constantly asking ourselves, "Do I fit here?" We are always going to be looking for a place to sit at the cafeteria like we did in high school and wondering where we fit. The awesome thing is if Jesus prepares a place for you, you will fill that place—you always fit! So you can stop trying to fix yourself, because Jesus will fix you himself.

Don't forget Creative Team Night tonight at 7:30pm at 155 E 22nd St. You've been created to be creative so make sure to come and get the creative juices flowing! Email NYCcreative@hillsong.com for more information on getting involved.

We had the honor of hearing from Pastor Kane Keating last night at Exchange. His message, “The Right Place, at the Right Time” focused on John 2:1-10 where Jesus turned water into wine at the wedding at Cana. It’s important that Jesus turned water into wine and not wine into water because Jesus takes bland things in our lives and interjects joy and life into us.
If you’re in the right place at the right time, you’ll know because...
  1. You run out. Just like they ran out of wine, we will run out of joy, strength etc. because that’s where Jesus shows up and takes over. He starts where you end (2 Corinthians 12:10).
  2. You stick is out. Jesus took the cup and turned certain shame into sudden fame. If you stick around and keep pressing forward we will “reap a harvest if we do not give up” Galations 6:9.
Team Night is back tonight at 7:30pm at 155 E 22nd St. Because every bone in your body is creative (you just may not know it yet) come tonight! Email NYCcreative@hillsong.com for more information.;

Wednesday Exchange Highlights: Kevin Singleton

At Exchange this week, we had the pleasure of hearing from Kevin Singleton, an amazing leader in our church family. He spoke from Hebrews 6:1 about our foundational relationship with Jesus, focusing on two things: repentance, and faith in God.

Foundation is the most important part of a building. It’s not exciting to look at, but so important for the building to stay standing. That's why it's so important for us to not only hear the word, but apply it to our lives. In Matthew 6:24-26, it talks about two men building their houses on different foundations. Both men were subject to rain falling, streams rising, and wind blowing, but because the wise man built his house on the rock—Jesus—his house stayed standing. Don't just build for the impact that you can anticipate.

  1. To repent means to retreat to the highest view. When we see things from God's perspective, we change our mind and actions. Our lives should be full of peace, righteousness, and joy in the Holy Spirit (Romans 14:17)
  2. Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the presence of things unseen (Hebrews 11:1)

On our way out, volunteers passed out Vision Sunday bracelets that say, "Missio Dei: The Mission of God." Our church is wearing them around the world.

Don't forget tonight is Team Night starting at 7:30pm at 155 E 22nd St. where the creative team has an awesome time together. If you're interested in anything creative you should definitely be there. Email NYCcreative@hillsong.com for more information.

WEDNESDAY EXCHANGE HIGHLIGHTS: 'OUTSIDERS'

At Exchange this week, Pastor Josh Kimes spoke a message titled, "Outsiders," and without Jesus, we're all outsiders. He read from 1 Samuel 22:1-2.

He gave us 3 things to help us on this journey we call life:

1. It's a journey of belonging. You don't belong on the outside anymore—remember that God is always with you. (Joshua 1:9)

2. It's a journey about believing. What do you believe about yourself? Believe what God says about you—belonging leads to believing. (Psalm 139:14)

3. It's a journey called becoming. What you believe will determine what you become. (Psalm 92:13)

David's 400 men went from misfits to mighty because they stayed close to the King.

Don't forget, tonight we have Team Night at 7:30 pm at 155 E 22nd St. This is an opportunity to learn more about the creative team and how you can use your gifts to help build the church.
